And the days keep rollin’ on by…

I love Dublin Hot Press magazines

Where has my time gone?

I absolutely hate it when cliché phrases end up being true, but, then again, in order for a phrase to become cliché it must be true, at least to a certain extent. Anyway, I’m digressing. My time in Dublin has just flown by. I woke up this morning with the realization that I am almost finished interning at Hot Press.

When I started this whole adventure, I assumed that by the end of it I would be more than ready to get back home, but I have come to realize that is not the case. At all.

As much as I miss my sweet furbaby, friends and family, I can’t bring myself to actually miss being at home.

I love Dublin.

I love it more than any other place I have ever visited. I love Dublin’s friendly people, beautiful accents and breathtaking views. I think leaving at the end of this month will be one of the hardest things that I have ever had to do in my short 23 years of living.

But rather than spend the rest of this post moping, I’ll rewind to a week or so ago and let you guys know why exactly I love this place.

The best part about Dublin has to be the people.

They truly are the nicest people I have ever met. Very friendly and helpful, and they (almost) always have a smile on their faces. It is not something you think about much, but it really makes a difference to the whole atmosphere of Dublin.

Spending time with Dubliners at Hot Press has also been a big highlight of my trip. You learn a lot about people from observing their interactions with one another. I picked up on a lot of Irish lingo and discovered some of the more commonly heard phrases – everything’s “grand,” for a start; it’s called “take away,” Kinsey, not fast food; “chips” are french fries; saying “that’s a good bit of craic” isn’t a reference to drugs, but rather an Irish way of saying something was a good time. But my favorite (or should I say favourite?) phrase to say by far is Sláinte! (slahn-cha), which isn’t actually slang, but is the Gaelic equivalent of saying “cheers.”

09.28.17:

So, I’ve only now realized that this post never got published!

My last month in Ireland was as amazing as the rest of my trip—so amazing that I tended to stay out of my dorm room, hence this seriously neglected post. I’m sharing it now, because even after a year has passed, this trip has meant so much to me. Re-reading my words here and seeing my excitement at describing this wonderful place has brought back a strong feeling of nostalgia. There is so much that I could say about my travels in Ireland; I didn’t even begin to scratch the surface.

I hope to update this blog again, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to find the time. But I do know for sure that one day I will sit down and pen my entire experience from start to finish in Dublin. There’s so much more to tell.

But, for now, this will have to do.
